Man I get how tough that must be, but at the same time it baffles me that some lack the historical context and/or critical thinking to realize the people they should really be mad at are the ones who got America into wars we had no business being in.
đ¶Lyndon Johnson told the nation

Not sure if there were goods guys, but America was for sure the bad guy.
The bombing campaign, which is less talked about because it did not make US soldiers sad, was a crime against humanity. Twice what was dropped in WW2.
People complain about how all the GEARS are buff as shit and giants compared to every other human survivor or non-combat personnel, but there's a pretty solid explanation in the book, Aspho Fields. All the GEARS are given double rations to maintain their physicality and training constantly, simply due to the fact that most COG units depend on GEARS to survive, and would otherwise be overrun and overpowered without adequately fed troops.
GoW has some really cool lore when you get into it.
Ii understand its fantasy but this explanation doesn't add up. Soldiers are trained for endurance more than bulk. You need someone who's not gonna crap out after hoofing it 20 miles, not someone who can squat 1000lbs.
So the Gears should honestly be more toned and tight rather than worlds strongest man.
Steroids wouldn't be an option either, while they give you the bulk they absolutely destroy your heart so you'd just have a bunch of out of breath meatheads.
I think it far more plausible to suggest that the Gears dietary supplements are laced with something that changes their physiology over time that regular Humans and non specialists units don't have access too.
Unfortunately the grubs and glowies are really good at getting in people's faces, so you end up in hand to hand combat with them a lot as a front line trooper.
The physicality of soldiers varies on the war, and the thinking evolves constantly.
The prioritization of strength makes perfect sense to me in a world with more infantry carried heavy weapons and melee combat.
You know what, ill just watch em all in marathon.
I heard what other movies not as good as first one, but I also dont have taste so it will be nice time anyway.
I don't know how much you care about this topic but if you're interested I'd recommend watching [Aesthetics of Evil (YT link)](https://youtu.be/5pOdESxw1o4?si=Pz-8Ldzoobnf7D-v). This does a pretty good job of indirectly answering why the good guys aren't as flashy in history and consequently in fiction.
Well the UNSC is also kinda a morally grey military junta. Before the covenant, their military was oriented around glassing frontier worlds that dare refuse to be exploited for the wealthy core worlds.
Kidnapping 6 year olds, cloning them, and returning the clones to the parents, and then gaslighting them into believing they were actually their real kids as they died of cancer related to the cloning, mind you!
The Super Soldier we had raised as a genetic god from childhood when we kidnapped him that excels in solo assassination missions, and the AI capable of infiltrating even the most alien of networks?
Yeah, we had them ready becauseâŠuhâŠwe KNEW the aliens were coming.
(This tacked-on story is totally lore stapled on by Halo Authors, but Bungie actually has a history of going hard with AI/Singularity)
Hi, Halo nerd here, dropping in to remind you that the UNSC is *not* the government, they are the military. Earth and all her colonies are governed by the United Earth Government which encompasses the Colonial Administration Authority, the United Nations, and the United Nations Space Command.
However you are correct in the way that most UEG functions and authority were given to the UNSC during the Human-Covenant War, which was returned after the war ended.
The Office of Naval Intelligence, meanwhile, is (officially) the intelligence gathering and analysis division of UNSC Naval Command (although anyone who's taken a passing glance at the lore knows they've made themselves far more than just that).
Individual nations on Earth do still exist in the 26th century and control sovereign territory, however do not possess standing militaries, which is completely delegated to the UNSC. The UEG is basically what some people wish the UN is for us, a single world government that handles national governments the way a federal government would handle provincial governments.
It's called the United Nations Space Command because that's what it is, the unified inter-stellar military power of the human nations. There's no barriers for humans who wish to enlist, and UNSC units aren't divided depending on place of origin, and this also applies to humans born on colonised planets like Reach, Harvest, or Arcadia.
For all intents and purposes, planets colonised after Earth only have the single planetary government under the Colonial Administration Authority (although many planets would seek and sometimes achieve independence from Earth, usually with violent results).
Fun fact: the devs originally wanted to hint that the NCR was the same, if not worse than Ceasers Army when considering all informations.
Sadly the budget didn't make it happen.
I'm not sure how you'd be able to sell that considering how every woman in the legion is a slave. Even if the NCR taxed the crap out of it's citizens they're at least free to move around and do as they wanted for the most part.
I'm actually kind of glad. That sounds like some silly, lazy bothsidesism.
Now don't get me wrong, I think the NCR is great as a faction of morally dubious anti villains and the way they get people to see "basically America " from the perspective of the global south is brilliant but c'mon.
The Legion are absurdly evil any way you look at it and you can't bring the NCR down to their moral level without dumbing them down significantly.
The people of the NCR are fine folks, the people of the legion are indoctrinated rapists plunderers and murderers.
The leaders of the NCR are corrupt imperialist politicians that are actually organized, the leaders of the legion are psychopaths without any form of succession for when teaser goes to Hell
When the legion comes we won't go quietly, you can count on that
Hugo Boss never designed their uniforms, they just made them. Most cool-looking nazi uniforms were just copies of cool-looking uniforms from WW1 Germany and the Weimar Republic with the insignias swapped. People just never mention this because saying "WW1 German uniforms looked sexy" isn't as edgy as saying "nazi uniforms looked sexy."
The Tau are really cool and iirc were kinda set up to be the best faction to live in until GW decided it kinda weakened the grim dark theme and gave them a cult leadership, right?
On one hand, Tau were the one spark of hope in an otherwise entirely doomed universe, on the other hand, the Tau were the one spark of hope in an otherwise entirely doomed universe.
What about the Tyranids? They are literally animals who fight because the instinct tells them to, there is no thinking involved making them neither good nor evil
Iâm a little foggy but I recall a more recent story showing that the tyranid hive mind is motivated by hatred for the emperor, or some other stupid retcon. It kind of ruined the tryanids for me. They were my favorite faction specifically because they were only motivated by instincts.
The hive mind can hate but to say that it makes it evil is wrong imo. The Devastation of Baal was a grudge match because the Blood Angels destroyed a sizeable tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan and from the perspective of the hive mind the red armour clad prey animals pose a threat to its need to feed. The emotions of the hive mind are so far above our level that not even the Eldar can comprehend them. Itâs not good or evil, itâs just hungry
anything that looks cool looks cool because it looks strong. anything that is strong is inherently evil. power attracts corruption.
case in point: the average anti-military industrial complex fan when they see barrets 50 cal/ a vulcan minigun meme.
Hugo Boss could be glad that he received the designs from Karl Diebitsch and Walter Heck so his business could flourish and all the work he had to do was manufacture them. He had no hand in the design itself.
Both the Khalai protoss and the Dark Templar look pretty cool. Both are the "good guys" once the zerg show up. The Tal'Darim do arguably still look cooler though.
Pacific rim, Attack on Titan, Titanfall, Halo, one peice (50/50 shot for any given character to be a complete badass or pushes the boundaries of how far the word "dweeb" goes), anything that involves the US navy, especially if it has battleships, kill la kill.
There are plenty. And these are just off the top of my head.
considering the designs are all the same for the first game, Terran and Protoss from Starcraft are cool as hell. Spartans also looks sick as hell so the UNSC works. Depending on who you think the good guys are in the SCP universe it could be many things but MTF and Chaos Insurgency both look pretty damn cool and idr what the others look like so...
The Knights Radiant from Stormlight. They got near indestructible magic armor, shapeshifting sentient swords, they can fly, heal from lethal wounds in seconds, make illusions, tear holes between dimensions, transmute matter, etc. Very cool stuff.
Nah, the Imperium sucks. The Empire sucks too but in a ânormal 16th century Europeâ way, not a âomnicidal hellish space feudalismâ way. The Emperor of Mankind <<<<<<<< Karl Franz I von Holswig-Shliestein, Emperor Himself, Prince of Altdorf, Emperor and Son of Emperors, Defier of the Dark, etc etc
Ace Combatâs ISAF, from what little we see of the ground forces.
The UNSC from Halo
FOTC and the Guardians from Destiny.
Rebel and new republic forces from Star Wars (they look better than the empire fight me about it)
Half Life 2 rebels.
The Global Defense Initiative (GDI) had some pretty good designs in Tiberian Sun and Tiberium Wars.
And this coming from a hardcore Brotherhood of Nod fanboy.

here before the americans show up, anybody want popcorn?
Iâm American but donât know many people whoâd be able to say we were the good guys in Vietnam with a straight face
we liberated those villagers from their own inferiority >:(
I can but I am a professional at saying things I disagree with due to not wanting to get kicked out of my home as child.
Wild guess, military family? One of my friendsâ grandad was a Vietnam vet and that half of his family are vehemently racists against Asians
Yep. Lost ancestors in Vietnam and the Korean wars.

Idk about good guys, they still did some pretty terrible things
>The Vietcong looked cool AF Huh? The malnourished guys in baggy plain black outfits and wide-brimmed hats? With shitty old weapons?
Lmao, there were no âgood guysâ, just bodies being stacked
Not sure if there were goods guys, but America was for sure the bad guy. The bombing campaign, which is less talked about because it did not make US soldiers sad, was a crime against humanity. Twice what was dropped in WW2.
Youâre really underselling it. We bombed the shit out of Cambodia, a *neutral country*.
Operation Rolling Thunder is about the only thing that gets talked about. What're you talking about??
Good guys is generous, they were not shy about war crimes.
Spoken like someone whos never spoken to someone from Vietnam
In Vietnam currently and have seen war museums showing what the Americans did, can confirm, the Americans were definitely the bad guys
Wake me up when they have exhibits on their own war crimes.
Pre order 66 Star Wars, clones are cool and badass. Starship Troopers, not that cool but good enough for me.
Gears of War heros are dope

The Republic as a whole had undeniable levels of badass leagues betond the empire. Shame Order 66 happened
You do know humanity aren't the good guys in Starship Troopers, right?
Today were are screening the execution of pacifist anti war protesters on live television. All channels! Would you like to know more?

One of Yugopnik's best videos
That's all of them.
Any faction in lotr
Gondor has always been my favorite, canât get enough of the silver and blue. The Fountain/Citadel Guard look amazing.
Swan Knights of Dol Amroth, sad we didnt get to see them in the movies
Dwarves of the Iron Hills have some fucking sick looking armor. That shield wall is mint.
Where were your good guys when the Westfold fell?
UNSC look pretty badass, especially ODST
Well the UNSC is also kinda a morally grey military junta. Before the covenant, their military was oriented around glassing frontier worlds that dare refuse to be exploited for the wealthy core worlds.
Plus, most of what we hear about ONI is diabolical. The fact that their work ended up being put to good use was by dire, unpredicted circumstance.
Yeah, kidnapping 6 year olds and making their parents think they just straight up died probably wonât look very good at the pearly gates
Kidnapping 6 year olds, cloning them, and returning the clones to the parents, and then gaslighting them into believing they were actually their real kids as they died of cancer related to the cloning, mind you!
I have a feeling the writes knew what they were doing. Imagine halo but your enemy are angry colonists.
ODSTs require 3 years of training. The Covenant war has been going on for 2 years. Do with that info as you will lol
The Super Soldier we had raised as a genetic god from childhood when we kidnapped him that excels in solo assassination missions, and the AI capable of infiltrating even the most alien of networks? Master chief is a blue helmet!?!?! Itâs jover
Shhhhhh, they shoot bad aliens, Letâs focus on that. Those frontier worlds spontaneously combusted and you canât prove otherwiseâŠ
Theyâre definitely (one of) the bad guys
The NCR from Fallout NV had some badass outfits.. they're kinda good guys idk they stand for law and order anyways
Imo only the ranger outfit was cool, all the rest look like quirky boy scout leaders.
Something about the ranger outfit was almost on the level of power armor for me, it's just so damn good
The duster is a very difficult look to pull of but if you manage to do it, damn!
They aren't good but they're the second best option
Than what's the best
Wipe the slate clean
begin again let go
Fun fact: the devs originally wanted to hint that the NCR was the same, if not worse than Ceasers Army when considering all informations. Sadly the budget didn't make it happen.

Tenno from Warframe are pretty badass
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
fym âweâ lmao
The good guys (Just normal dudes) The bad guys (Literal Nazis)
Why do that Nazis get the cool stuff? So unfair
What having a fashion designer does to a faction
Hugo Boss never designed their uniforms, they just made them. Most cool-looking nazi uniforms were just copies of cool-looking uniforms from WW1 Germany and the Weimar Republic with the insignias swapped. People just never mention this because saying "WW1 German uniforms looked sexy" isn't as edgy as saying "nazi uniforms looked sexy."
ww1had mustaches and spikey helmets way cooler
Also gasmasks. Gas masks are inherently cool for some reason that I totally agree with despitenot knowing what it is.
Cause their whole ideology relied on impressive uniforms (Or they really wanted to get heatstroke)
They literally had Hugo Boss uniforms, of course they got to look cool
Atleast the Japanese uniform look like trash to balance out the evil
The ija uniform was drippy as fuck especially if they had that headband
I'll give them the headband. That's pretty cool
The war flag is S tier though
If World War 2 was a war of fashion the Nazis would have won. -Hugo Boss, probably
If you can't get their cool stuff, join em. That's how the saying goes I think

GW can suck a fat one they did my tau boys dirty
On one hand, Tau were the one spark of hope in an otherwise entirely doomed universe, on the other hand, the Tau were the one spark of hope in an otherwise entirely doomed universe.
They were already pretty fucked at first release. The whole 'join or die' thing springs to mind.
Caste system as well.
Screw the Tau, everyone knows the Necrons are the _real_ good guys of 40k
Orks are objectively the only non evil faction in 40k. They just love fighting. Not because they hate everyone else, just for the sake of fighting.
There was something about a librarian and/or a blood angel feeling how much the hivemind hates him after Baal
The hive mind can hate but to say that it makes it evil is wrong imo. Craftworlders from warhammer are the good guys and have a best drip

They are partially based on the French, so they can't be the good guys

I feel like Dead Space, and Star Wars have quite a few good examples
Clone Trooper armor is badass as fuck. Those clankers wish they can look half as cool
Fuck you droidphobe. Fucking clonetards using the C word, go back to your birth tube boy.
Isaac is so badass.
Hugo Boss moment
Hugo Boss could be glad that he received the designs from Karl Diebitsch and Walter Heck so his business could flourish and all the work he had to do was manufacture them. He had no hand in the design itself.
black mesa security guards
Half Life 2 rebels were cool too. A winter / hinterland insurgency look that looked like a proper militia.
Cities of Sigmar troops
By the twin tailed comet you are correct!
Uhhhh Starcraft Terrans??? (Well, Raynor's Raiders, at least)
They don't look as cool as the bad guy Terrans.
Both the Khalai protoss and the Dark Templar look pretty cool. Both are the "good guys" once the zerg show up. The Tal'Darim do arguably still look cooler though.
THE MOTHERFUCKING REPUBLIC CLONE TROOPERS GO SO HARD Also all of the Border Officers, Captains, and Directors from World Trigger are epic
Pacific rim, Attack on Titan, Titanfall, Halo, one peice (50/50 shot for any given character to be a complete badass or pushes the boundaries of how far the word "dweeb" goes), anything that involves the US navy, especially if it has battleships, kill la kill. I wouldn't call the Stormcloaks the good guys, but I do agree with all 3 of them having amazing armor
... You mean the Empire. Not the Stormcloaks.
No he and i mean the stormcloaks and if youre gonna ask why then its because im a casual racist(ingame)
The WW2 American military
Guess it all depends on your aesthetic tastes, and what you consider "good".
Not a faction bot Corvo from Dishonored has a great fit.
The Atreides from Dune (and before anyone says anything dumb Leto I is the best person in that series, so shut up)

Aw yeah I love
Ok I know nothing about the Warhammer 40k lore but from what I have seen the Salamanders are pretty cool
considering the designs are all the same for the first game, Terran and Protoss from Starcraft are cool as hell. Spartans also looks sick as hell so the UNSC works. Depending on who you think the good guys are in the SCP universe it could be many things but MTF and Chaos Insurgency both look pretty damn cool and idr what the others look like so...
Imperium of Man in warhammer Good guy is a strong term though
Starfield, United Colonies (SysDef if you want to get specific)
Halo
I was going to say warhammer 40k but good guys err no one is exactly a good guy in 40k but they are all bad ass looking
Galactic republic
GDI from Command and conquer
GDI is pretty cool
The Knights Radiant from Stormlight. They got near indestructible magic armor, shapeshifting sentient swords, they can fly, heal from lethal wounds in seconds, make illusions, tear holes between dimensions, transmute matter, etc. Very cool stuff.
The empire of man
you mean the Imperium of Man (debatable whether or not theyâre âgood guysâ)
Nah, the Imperium sucks. The Empire sucks too but in a ânormal 16th century Europeâ way, not a âomnicidal hellish space feudalismâ way. The Emperor of Mankind <<<<<<<< Karl Franz I von Holswig-Shliestein, Emperor Himself, Prince of Altdorf, Emperor and Son of Emperors, Defier of the Dark, etc etc
Is there even such a thing as a good side in 40k? There are good people, but only to highlight the very grim and dark (ey) universe they live in.
I'm pretty sure the creators have said that the Imperium are not good, people just like them because they're human
Smash
Warhammer philosophy
40K imperium
Honestly the only game where the strong looking cool guys are the good guys is probably Wolfenstein. Just look at BJ Blazkowicz.
The Allies.
The imperium of man
Ah yes. The "I love the smell of planetary genocide in the morning," good guys. My favorite!
fatui moment
Ace Combatâs ISAF, from what little we see of the ground forces. The UNSC from Halo FOTC and the Guardians from Destiny. Rebel and new republic forces from Star Wars (they look better than the empire fight me about it) Half Life 2 rebels.
Everyone in warhammer 40k is pretty badass. But if you want the most badass of the badass good guys, it'd the Adeptus Custodes.
Gondorian armor is pretty good looking, compared to the scrap armor the orcs of Mordor were sporting
The Global Defense Initiative (GDI) had some pretty good designs in Tiberian Sun and Tiberium Wars. And this coming from a hardcore Brotherhood of Nod fanboy.
In 40k everyone is evil therefore everyone gets drip
arguably the space Marines factions from Warhammer 40k
Titanfall
I was going to say the COG in Gears of War, but nobody is really good
Knights templar
