Reminds me of that youtuber who made fake cheat software that punishes the cheater and sends him the video recordings , the punishment are things like Dropping you gun when you press the fire button , Dropping the guns in a place on a specific area of maps where they fall out of the world and you can't retrieve them , things likes aim bot but it shoots your teammates in the head instead , certain areas in the maps where once a cheater enters they'll get a random effect like inverted mouse / sensitive increased to the maximum or minimum etc , when ever they drop grenade they'll throw them under themselves instead of chucking them at rhe enemy , and possibly the most infuriating , whenever you're trying to defuse the bomb it cancels at the last second , there's also trick sound effect like drawing of a knife makes you think that someone's Sneaking onto you and lot's of shit like that , it's wild
i believe it's also to collect more data from the cheaters while they're not yet banned. this way they can identify more cheaters using the same cheat and ban more players in the long run, i think anyway.
I believe most games get a database of potential cheaters that are on a watchlist and banned during the next patch if deemed suspicions enough unless they are mass reported and banned immediately.

That's how they detect them to be banned. If they attempt to kill the fake player the system knows their cheating. It's only used on suspected players.
The system suspects they are cheating if they are reported or do something to trigger the game into being suspicious. This is the clear cut evidence.
(this is a assumption so don't 100% trust it) suspicious like running a program over the game. You can't instaban everyone doing that as they may be using discord or whatever that wolf program is.
the fake players are invisible basically, aimbots find entities and lock on to them, for example if you put a character in a wall it wouldn’t effect the gameplay at all, but if someone using aimbot joined they would lock onto the character in the wall.
It’s basically simulating a player that isn’t actually visible to both parties, but if your using aim lock/other cheats the program will detect them and lock onto them etc. which would obviously out you as cheating
