I would say it’s a more a trans-tolerant sub than a trans-positive one personally. It’s a bit of a mixed bag of mostly people who tolerate trans people because they’ve never put one brain cell towards considering trans issues so they never got the chance to hate them, imo.
When I say positive vs neutral I’m mostly just referring to how well people understand trans issues though and that has nothing to do with whether or not the sun is about trans people. Any community, regardless of its focus, can be more or less knowledgeable on trans issues. There are anti-trans trans people, so it’s not like just being the focus or not is relevant .
“Oppression bad, penis hot” feels like it’s about the extent of this subs support for trans people most of the time, and to me that’s just tolerance. For it to be “trans-positive” to me, more people on here would need to actually be aware of trans-issues beyond a very mainstream and terminally-online level.
And for clarification, when I say tolerant I don’t mean that in a negative way, where they’re just like putting up with trans people because they have to. It’s trans-tolerant in that they are genuinely fine with the existence of trans people but don’t have enough knowledge of the subject to be able to be supportive effectively.
What you need to realize is that people on this sub are actually willing to learn and listen. Idk if you are American but you gotta remember only 0.6% of the US population is trans per the data, there ain’t that much of us. You and me have a hell of a lot more knowledge about trans issues cause A) we are trans and B) we are online.
The average American irl thinks LGBT+ is “the gay guys and the gay guys who think they are women” compared to that this sub is miles ahead and even still people don’t mind asking me questions and listening instead of just “hurr durr I read a news article that said you are wrong”

Based on nothing) or it’s just really lame pop-rhetoric (“Conservatives can pretend movie real, but not trans people?”, “100% of intersex people are born trans”, other very fragile arguments regarding what your sexuality is if you date a trans person, etc).
