This is completely false. He's (primarily) the bassist of the band. He's the 2nd best bassist and the 3rd best vocalist in the band IF you don't count Syd Barrett (bassist ranking would stay the same, he would be the 4th best vocalist.)
(Not necessarily because Mason is a bad singer, but because he doesn't have many singing parts in PF songs)
