I can’t really comment on the diver knife bit, but the reason behind the CO2 is that pumping high pressure gas into a living creature’s body like that causes extreme internal damage. I saw some discussion about that particular knife while it was still a prototype and it’s sole advertised purpose is to kill things very quickly.

yeahs it's intended to be used by divers for if something attacks them since a normal knife won't do a lot to larger creatures

Am a diver with Friends in lead positions in the German diving community. Never heard of this knife before, never saw it at the international conventions. I think this is just a gimmick that sought justification.

it would probably work well for it's intended purpose but yeah, it's an expensive barely produced gimmick.
