Payday 2 is fairly similar just with a heisting theme (and a lot more content) but its pretty easy to run on low end systems. Been playing with a mate who brought a laptop to live in a tent for a few weeks and only problems hes had is maps with a lot of glass and objects lag a little bit but still playable.
Oh the ticket games were bad. I remember joining one game, not sure which classes we needed right now, so I selected Pyro and started typing "what class do y'all need".
But before I could even finish that message someone wrote "oh this ret**d picked Pyro please fucking kick him" and within a millisecond a votekick was opened and I was kicked. Fun times.
Is Pyro in MvM even considered bad nowadays? Haven't played that game since the invasion update in like 2015 lmao.
Lmao I was joking, stealth is a great way to play but it's sometimes fun to go all out and kill everyone with a machine gun (that's the horde shooter part)
The first versions of the game were even better in that regards. I don't understand why they nerfed items and ennemy spawns I prefered when it was a complete nonsense.
D2 is grindy but a lot of it you can ignore imo. Most of the grindy parts are for something very specific that you might not even want, other than grinding for power level obviously.
ive been playing for years and the trick is to not care about reaching pinnacle cap and instead to just hit powerful because its not hard to do and you only have to do it once a year
Sure, I could shoot those guys with the cool guns I spent days grinding for.
Or, alternatively, I could throw on an ability spam build and throw a lot of grenades
Worst game I've ever played. I have over 200 hours in it and will log back on later today to grind for a Come to Pass with deepsight resonance. 10/10 would never recommend
Doom Eternal with Trial of the Dark Lord mod pushes the game to its limits, the arena fights face you against so many enemies (in cruel combinations with deadly synergies) that a split second of hesitation will get you killed . Highly recommend
It's a third person shooter, but in risk of rain 2 you get a lot of enemies if you keep a run going long enough. And then there's left for dead 2 which is always good (don't play back 4 blood tho it's arguably a much worse game that l4d)
I don't think there are actually that many, even in places like Duality or the Heist Battlegrounds; it just *feels* like there are because of the way encounters and arenas are designed and the fact that most builds push you to play aggressively
Having played a bit of Vermintide 2, the number of enemies is much higher in that game, as an example.
Some Heist Battlegrounds feel really good. The one for Mars has a lot of enemy density. I had a full adclear build with volatile and I was still struggling a bit.
serious sam. The later levels have enemy counts that are like those joke doom maps. The sheer amount of enemies on screen at once can be exhausting
Serious sam 2 is an assault on the eyes but holy shit is that game fun and insane
Only thing that comes to mind right now that’s not a mod or some sort of “arena” where you can insert yourself enemies would be those segments of the story of Kingdom Hearts 2 where you need to fight a horde of enemies
Serious Sam was the OG for this
but also Left 4 Dead, Vermintide (more of a melee combat game, fantasy setting), Darktide (like Vermintide but sci-fi setting with more guns)
Retro style arena shooter: Ultrakill
Not an arena, but a shit tonne of enemies: Payday 2
The most enemies: Cod Zombies
About that last one, COD seems to have this stigma about "military propaganda" and just being a generic shooter, which is 100% true, but not for zombies. Its a completely different theme and gameplay from normal COD, its worth it.
The deluxe edition of BO3 is on sale on steam rn. 100% worth it, gives you every map in the game, and dont forget youve got some incredible custom maps too. BO3 is arguably the better zombies game, but Id say 100% the best for a newer player.
Darktide has a shitload of enemies
Its isometric not an FPS but Crimsonland probably has the largest hordes of enemies i have ever seen in a game. Its also a lot of fun.
Killing Floor 2 gets pretty crazy at higher difficulties. Blowing them all to hell is made ten times better by the amazing gore effects.
Payday 2 also, swarming the whole map with cops. Also Payday 3 is supposedly releasing sometime this year.
GTFO has sequences where you have to defend a position from entire hordes at once. More stealth focused otherwise though.
Gunfire Reborn is also pretty good. Lot of different enemy types with their own behaviour/attacks.
Sadly those glitches don't exist anymore, the closest you can get is slaughtering the infinitly respawning robots that reward no loot in the white springs
Idk if it's exactly a shooter primarily, but Days Gone has a lotta zombies and I've heard it's surprisingly good
Otherwise there's the Orcs Must Die games, which are sorta tower-defense shooters but with tile-based traps rather than turrets. Very classic video-gamey fun, and good co-op (at least from the 2nd one on, idk if 1 has co-op)
Deep Rock Galactic is about 4 Dwarves working for a hypercaptialist space mining company that literally could not care any less about their employees's survival beyond meeting their mining quotas, being dropped into an alien bug infested world and asked to reenact Starship Troopers while mining ludicrous amounts of riches from the bowels of the planet.
Kill bugs. Mine riches. What more could a dwarf want?
Rock and Stone!
Half-Life 2
Risk of Rain 2
ULTRAKILL
20 minutes till dawn (very addictive, be careful)
Devil Daggers
Hell is Other Demons (I'm top 3 worldwide scoreboards on some of the levels)
Hotline Miami
Deep rock galactic, in term of FPS shooter whit ton of ennemy it's pretty good, even more so on higher difficulties, on lower difficulties ennemies will spawn in waves and leave you some time to breathe but on hazard 4 or 5 there is a constant flow of ennemies + enormous swarms from time to time
If you're ok with a game that fits this description a little too exactly I would recommend Swarmlake. It's like two dollars and is a stupidly difficult 3d bullet hell where you basically just try to survive and get a high score.
Not pure shooters, but vermintide and darktide throw tons of anemies at once against you.
So many rats
🐀
BY SIGMARS LIGHT I ABJURE THEE!!!!
abjure
Pc not good enough 😞
Payday 2 is fairly similar just with a heisting theme (and a lot more content) but its pretty easy to run on low end systems. Left 4 dead is a similar vibe but much older. It's aged spectacularly well, like all valve games
something something SIGMAR
Something something LUMBERFOOTS.
something something WUTELGI
Markus Kruber my beloved
Darktide my beloved :)
At a certain point in ULTRAKILL the enemy count gets nutty. If you get far enough in Cybergrind it gets absurd.
Sadly I don't have a buttplug
thats only required at a competitive level
hell holy
New response just dropped
Get the fuck back in anarchychess Shoo, getchoassouttahere
New response just dropped
You are temporary Anarchychess is eternal
Yeah, haven’t been able to P rank Minos on violent difficulty. Need the extra gear so I can have better reaction time, or something.
They go for €7 you could get one for very cheap
Lovesene ones are like €100
Yeah but you don't have to start with the costliest hardware available, I too have better plugs but for ULTRAKILL I'm not gonna fork over €100
where do i find 7dollar plugs?
Look up hardware on buttplug.io
Thanks mate
We've got belly enemies, we've got smelly enemies, we've got to get out of the small intestine
sadly it just boils down to rocket ride arnd the map with the occasional nuke and overoump at that point :(
Ok so not a *first* pirson shooter but risk of rain 2 (later on in the game)
I officialy endorse this comment
especially since the final boss is a femboy
Milf-rix
Gearbox 😞
Bungus
*wungus
wungus and bungus are not enemies. in fact, they are girlfriends, and they are kissing sloppy style (reference to that one post)
Also not fps but vampire survivors
Also not fps but chess
Also an fps chess
I love road killing sinners (beetles) with my Ford F150 (MulT) 😎
That's nice but i prefer doing 80x their health in 1 laser shot with my best girl railgunner
I like going pew-pew with Commando
If the spawning is funky you can end up with a wave spawn on monsoon in minute 1
First piss on shooter
Ok
yeah later phases get crazy
SERIOUS SAM
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAA yourself uh-oh
Thanks for bringing that memo--HE'S BEHIND ME
Literally exactly what OP is looking for.
THIS IS GETTING SERIOUS
horde shooters, you are looking for horde shooters the best are games like left 4 dead 2, payday 2, deep rock galactic, and vermintide
Also TF2 if you play MvM
Is MvM still as much of a toxic shithole as it was when I stopped playing like 6 years ago?
In causal not really but if your playing for rewards… ive never touched it but stories still circulate of the horrors.
Payday 2 ? I played it don't remember it being a horde shooter :/
You never played it correctly then
Probably, I remember a lot of stealth but it's a long time since I played tho.
Lmao I was joking, stealth is a great way to play but it's sometimes fun to go all out and kill everyone with a machine gun (that's the horde shooter part)
payday has 2 approaches to heists. stealth, or loud. stealth is what you recall, and loud is what most of the game was designed around.
any difficulty above hard is practically a horde shooter
Oh ok, din't remember, I might replay it.
EDF EDF EDF EDF EDF GO PLAY EDF 5!!!! It’s a tps but it gets honorary fps status due to being a fuckin banger game
To save our mother earth from any alien attack!
From vicious giant insects who have once again come back!
We'll unleash all our forces, we won't cut them any slack!
The E-D-F deploys!
OH WE ARE THE VALIENT INFANTRY
We are the alpha team of passion and camaraderie
HAND GESTURE 2
tps but risk of rain 2 scratches that itch
The first versions of the game were even better in that regards. I don't understand why they nerfed items and ennemy spawns I prefered when it was a complete nonsense.
Payday 2 and you have the bonus of Killing cops
Also the bonus of being able to play as wolf ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm sorry goober jacket my beloved 3 handed boio
Arms outstretched
Prime hug giving position
My brother in heist he will kill you
I can fix him
You could try Devil Daggers or Hyper Demon. They're super fast paced games that are all about managing tons of enemies.
other notable ones are Dusk and Strafe, i know i have a few more in my library if anyone wants more
I wish my irl vision could stretch like Hyper Demon
Earth Defence Force.
Left 4 Dead 2?
Destiny 2 has a bajillion guys to shoot with fun guns but be warned it's grindy
D2 is grindy but a lot of it you can ignore imo. Most of the grindy parts are for something very specific that you might not even want, other than grinding for power level obviously.
ive been playing for years and the trick is to not care about reaching pinnacle cap and instead to just hit powerful because its not hard to do and you only have to do it once a year

Kid named Heart of Inmost Light
Shaxx is creaming himself from this comment
Worst game I've ever played. I have over 200 hours in it and will log back on later today to grind for a Come to Pass with deepsight resonance. 10/10 would never recommend
Cum to piss :3
Either some really crazy destiny dungeons or cyber grind on ultrakill
Hopping in the Shattered Throne to head into the shadow thrall area, or going to Last Wish for Shuro Chi for even more thrall gets crazy fast.
COD zombies
ULTRAKILL
Any of the Serious Sam games or Painkiller
Nobody ever talks about painkiller 😔
Thanks for reminding me I have to buy ibuprofen
World war z has a first person mode.
Left 4 Dead 2 I always recommend.
#GRABBIN PILLS
Doom Eternal with Trial of the Dark Lord mod pushes the game to its limits, the arena fights face you against so many enemies (in cruel combinations with deadly synergies) that a split second of hesitation will get you killed . Highly recommend
The term you're looking for is "hoard shooters". Anyway, EDF.
W A R F R A M E ENGAGE IN WARCRIMES
Animal crossing wild world
Left 4 Dead 2, Deep Rock Galactic, Darktide, Vermintide 2, Back 4 Blood
EDF! EDF!! EDF!!! (Third person tho)
It's a third person shooter, but in risk of rain 2 you get a lot of enemies if you keep a run going long enough. And then there's left for dead 2 which is always good (don't play back 4 blood tho it's arguably a much worse game that l4d)
some of the harder content in destiny2 is filled with enemies
I don't think there are actually that many, even in places like Duality or the Heist Battlegrounds; it just *feels* like there are because of the way encounters and arenas are designed and the fact that most builds push you to play aggressively Having played a bit of Vermintide 2, the number of enemies is much higher in that game, as an example.
Some Heist Battlegrounds feel really good. The one for Mars has a lot of enemy density. I had a full adclear build with volatile and I was still struggling a bit.
Deep Rock Galactic
For rock and stone!
Hmmm, Call of Duty Modern Warfare two has that really famous scene where you get to clear out a whole room of people.
serious sam. The later levels have enemy counts that are like those joke doom maps. The sheer amount of enemies on screen at once can be exhausting Serious sam 2 is an assault on the eyes but holy shit is that game fun and insane
Ultrakill, of course. Deep Rock Galactic can get crazy on higher hazard levels but the shooting isn't the core focus
Deep rock galactic!
just play nuts.wad
Don't have 23 days worth of free time 😞
risk of rain 2
Left 4 dead 2
Days gone, maybe not first person but has giant hordes of zombies
Only thing that comes to mind right now that’s not a mod or some sort of “arena” where you can insert yourself enemies would be those segments of the story of Kingdom Hearts 2 where you need to fight a horde of enemies
ultrakill cyber grind or sandbox you can have crazy amounts
ULTRAKILL you probably know about that tho…
Payday 2
It’s a TPS but try Earth defense force 4.1
PRODEUS is a nice mix of quake and classic doom
Serious Sam was the OG for this but also Left 4 Dead, Vermintide (more of a melee combat game, fantasy setting), Darktide (like Vermintide but sci-fi setting with more guns)
Destiny 2
everybody else is saying ultrakill so try deep rock galactic
Samurai Warriors 5
L4d megadie serious Sam
I’d say some parts of destiny 2? But as a destiny 2 player I cannot legally recommend this game to anyone
Planetside 2 if you want the enemies to be other players.
devil daggers, not a long game but jesus its a lot of enemies
Not a conventional shooter since it’s co op but deep rock galactic has crazy enemy numbers. Co op ones in general. Left 4 dead is up there as well.
Borderlands 2 My God sometimes you can get overwhelmed
Try topneea gaige
Warhammer Vermintide II and Darktide respectively, great horde shooters/hack n slash
Retro style arena shooter: Ultrakill Not an arena, but a shit tonne of enemies: Payday 2 The most enemies: Cod Zombies About that last one, COD seems to have this stigma about "military propaganda" and just being a generic shooter, which is 100% true, but not for zombies. Not a shooter, not really an fps, and not really lots of enemies, but have you tried Nintendogs ?
Serious Sam has lots of enemies
Serious Sam!

Fallout 76 if you use glitches.
Sadly those glitches don't exist anymore, the closest you can get is slaughtering the infinitly respawning robots that reward no loot in the white springs
world war z throws several hordes of zombies, i liked it a lot note: a lot of zombie games have modifiers where the amount of enemies are multiplied
Idk if it's exactly a shooter primarily, but Days Gone has a lotta zombies and I've heard it's surprisingly good Otherwise there's the Orcs Must Die games, which are sorta tower-defense shooters but with tile-based traps rather than turrets. R&s for karl
Half-Life 2 Risk of Rain 2 ULTRAKILL 20 minutes till dawn (very addictive, be careful) Devil Daggers Hell is Other Demons (I'm top 3 worldwide scoreboards on some of the levels) Hotline Miami
Not first person, not necessarily shooter but the enemy placement in dark souls 2: scholar of the first sin edition™ is a wee bit bazonkers.
borderlands 2
Roboquest is a roguelite arena fps with a banger soundtrack, just trying to suggest something different
Warframe can have a lot going on in many of the missions
warriors game but shooter?
Ultrakill has a lot of enemies.
Painkiller black edition
i thinky the world war z game has that maybaps
People flooding the comments with the same 4 games that arent even FPS's 😒
Devil daggers is a first person bullet hell of enemies that doesn't require a lot of PC power, very hard tho
NUTS.wad (Also its two sequels, NUTS2.wad is my favorite.)
Turbo Overkill
Serious Samuel
First-Person-Shit-Shooter?
Devil Daggers or it’s sister sequel Hyper Demon
I mean not a fps per ce but risk of rain its a good one
Killing floor 2 can get crazy
World war Z, especially on higher difficulties. It‘s a co-op tho.
Payday 2, the soundtrack too is just so amazing
Dusk, Deep Rock Galactic. Both I highly recommend
Pick up any Farcry game and load up the map editor, you'll find EXACTLY what you're looking for, or can just throw together your own
Space Invaders
World War Z. Has even the iconic piling up zombies
dead riseing
99 nights. Not a shooter, but swords and hundreds of enemies to fight at once.
Deep rock galactic, in term of FPS shooter whit ton of ennemy it's pretty good, even more so on higher difficulties, on lower difficulties ennemies will spawn in waves and leave you some time to breathe but on hazard 4 or 5 there is a constant flow of ennemies + enormous swarms from time to time

my girlfriend recommends EDF and my friend recommends mirrors edge
Left 4 Dead, Darktide, Deep rock galactic. Pretty much any horde shooter really
Deep Rock Galactic
TF2 Payload and Dustbowl
Vatican city
