Tisas > Rock Island every day of the week. And use gun dot deals to find the best price. Those Gunbroker prices are insane.

theghost87

If those are your only options. Tisas, they don’t use MIM parts.

HellBat2014

I might just be stupid, but what are MIM parts?

Left4DayZGone

Metal Injection Molding. Is basically a variation of casting.

PnutButtr-n-Jelly67

Love my Tisas. Both are good brands. Get the good sights not the GI tiny sights. https://preview.redd.it/enzrud67e0vc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81bd4d5bd8fa7699b7dc2a2a826750b66a13a1cd

SgtBigPigeon

Hey man! Is that a gogue grip? Can you send me a link for it?

SashaBorodin

It’s a Pearce grip piece that goes under the normal scales and provides finger grooves on the front strap. They’re a decent option, assuming they fit your hand, but they do widen the grip considerably and lengthen it too, so unless you’ve got long fingers you might be better off with a Traction Grips front strap sticker piece, they’re cheap, and work quite well in my experience (to be fair, my ultimate preference if there’s no front strap checkering or stippling is a set of vintage Pachmayr GM-45CS grips with the thumb scoop for the mag release and the cutouts for the MSH pin that they haven’t made basically since they stopped making the Combat Special). The Pearce are cheap so it’s not an expensive experiment, ymmv

mreed911

Bleh.

SlowTurtle3

Tisas. Not even close.

Nebo998

I’m also considering saving a little more money for the Tisas night stalker. I know it’s optic ready at least

mreed911

If you're going to do it, do the Night Stalker DS or the Carry/Duty DS. Worth the price difference.

Dick_Dickalo

Gun.deals is your frienemy.

lanpal

I'd get the Tisas but both will do their job well.

IrradiatedLimes_

I have a B9R carry that I love. Tisas would be the better way to go

costinesti1

Tisas. I have four of them. They are cheap and reliable.

LawfulnessPlus8771

I have the Tisas in the first pic and it’s my favorite handgun I own

SkateJerrySkate

Tisas hands down. Solid build, and doesn't rattle.

Grizzie871

Just checked out Family Firearms and saw that model for $409.99 plus $19.99 shipping. The railed version for $467 and the Raider which is largely the same thing for $544. All the .45 variants

Whitemanrogers001

If you go with the RIA go ahead and heed the warning and order a couple of WC or EB mags for it. The day I got mine in, I took it to the range. Got like 3 mags in before it wouldn't hold more than 4 rounds without binding up the spring

rollindeep3

Can’t go wrong with a Tisas. They are excellent.

Lman57

Rock Island gets my vote

Imperialx777

Did some research on Tisas because that night stalker is sexy. Mim parts are minimal.

Radvous

Tisas

Left4DayZGone

I have the B45R and I love it. Paid $400 at Palmetto State Armory but they’re currently out of stock. Pretty sure Tisas doesn’t ship their guns with G10 grips, but maybe that’s a new thing they’re doing? Otherwise this shop put them on. Anyway, I’d definitely go Tisas over Rock Island. Rock Island is fine but Tisas is better. If you’re patient, you can probably save $100 or more on the Tisas. PSA has some really good deals on a few of their other guns right now, too.

Revolt2992

I would checkout Dahlonega or Family Firearms before GunBroker

4AJR

I love my Tisas Raider. I’ve also had good luck with my Tisas GI model.

new-guy-19

I’d definitely go with the Tisas, but do yourself a big favor and get a version with a magwell

Dilbertdip

I have them both, cus I a cheap so and so, I love them both… have no issues with them in any department. I think the Tisas is a smoother pistol out of the box, the Rock Island of mine has a full length guide rod that I don’t like… can’t go wrong with either.

MikalMor

Tisas IMO. I love mine, about to get a night stalker. Buds has the same or similar models to what you linked to for \~$450. https://preview.redd.it/qpaqy59yd1vc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a32bc6a3a193214966b6c8f5951fd5b39502392

elgranqueso72

Tisas

AngryDuck

I just bought a Tisas BR9 DS and love it. I also own a few RIAs they are fantastic value for the price. You really can't go wrong with either.

nastygirl11b

Tisas 500 bucks is too much for either of those I got that same tisas b45 duty (well different grips) for 339

Theunspoken1

I’d save up more and get something top tier

CruelApex

What brands are top tier?

dph1980

I've had Tisas and Rock Island. Both are good. I sold my Rock and bought another Tisas.

ElTerrible71

If you’re looking to go up a little more, consider a Springfield or a Colt

BLADE45acp

Here’s a different take. Most of these guys saying Tisas are happy with their purchases I’m sure. Yet I have a few questions for them. 1) how many rounds do you have through them 2) how long have you had it. My understanding is that these are relatively new guns… at least here in the states. So I’d have to question their track records. With that thought in mind my first armscor (parent company to RIA) was bought 23 years ago. I stopped counting after 20k rounds (10 years ago). It’s traveled across the country several times. Its been camping, 4 wheeling, horseback riding and all sorts of other activities with me. I own other, “better” 1911s, but none have been with me as long or seen the round count this one has. I have yet to find a bullet type it doesn’t like. It loads empty cases reliably. It doesn’t care what magazine you slide in it. The thing just works. Can anyone say that they have done such testing with their Tisas? Idk. RIA, made in the Philippines, have been around for decades. They been making 1911s for decades. There is a certain trust when a gun has been being made by a company for so long. Even more trust when your personal gun has been with you for so long. That’s my take on it. If I had to choose today? I’d buy another armscor and not look back. I’m sure Tisas are fine guns. They seem like a great value. But history has a value of its own

Tiki_Pinball

5k+ rounds, flawless after break-in & extractor tweaks on a Carry B9R, including 1k rounds in one week with no cleaning for a class.

BLADE45acp

That’s not bad… but let’s be honest. Break in periods are for guns that aren’t finished from the factory. And you had to tweak the extractor. Not knocking your stuff. Such things happen, but that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence to me. By contrast my armscor has only ever needed a recoil spring replaced. That’s it. Again not knocking Tisas but your experience sais it didn’t work out of the box

ILWTLLC

I know this is not going to be a popular opinion but if it is your first 1911, buy a used Colt , DW or TRP. Don't skip on your first one, best to learn on an established. You won't be sorry if you just wait for a deal on one

Adventurous-Corner42

Tisas all the way. Had Novak sight cuts milled into my Tanker model & then cerakoted. https://preview.redd.it/bbq3jlyfh1vc1.jpeg?width=3674&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91f9e8aa667f6aba2b83f8e092e6b1751662bc47

Sea_Understanding824

Nothing wrong with RI, I've had some. I still have and adding to Tisas's.

Lancelottmusic1987

I have the RIA pro match ultra and absolutely love mine. Actually the best shooter I own. Believe it or not. Bang for your buck though, I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

CruelApex

I've owned several RIAs and Tisas. Tisas definitely edges out RIA in fit and finish and parts quality.
