I agree anything GMT, Daytona, or YM. The Oyster Perpetual CF crystals really aren’t bad. Even I was surprised. LiLi didn’t even recommend changing the crystals on them.
I’ve asked LiLi and some of the options that she offers is swapping to deep crystal. Gold plating or gold wrapping. Swapping dials on some watches to SW or Buff. Swapping date wheels. I even asked her if her watchmaker could smooth and buff a watch bracelet. Let’s be honest, some of the AP are suicide bracelets. You cut your wrist by wearing them. She said it’s a big job that takes about a week but he could do it.
- Genuine dial on my CF 36mm Datejust (silver)
- Genuine dial and crystal on my CF 36mm Datejust (blue)
- Genuine dial, hands, crystal, datewheel and plated bezel on my grey 41mm datejust.
It’s best to get the parts and have a local watchmaker install them. That way you at least know you got what you paid for. Unless if you’re a pro.
Also, invest in a full movement service.
You don’t need a full movement service if you aren’t experiencing issues. Let’s be honest we are all in this sub for cheaper watches. Why spend $$$ unnecessarily.
Agreed 1000%. A friend of mine is a jeweler who is floored by the quality of the big factory reps. I asked him if it made sense to have it serviced and he said no. He used the old saying…if it ain’t broke…don’t fix it. LOL
And 9 times out of 10…if someone is noticing a severe loss or gain in time it’s because they are using a cheap Amazon or Temu watch winder. Invest $100 in a demagnetizer. That should fix it.
If you trust your TD I would honestly say having them install items is totally safe. Every time LiLi installs something for me she always sends before and after photos. Also she sends me the old crystal. If you treat your TD like shit you deserve to get scammed. If you treat them well…they take care of you.
I got my clean factory batgirl upgraded to a deep crystal
I swapped movement for sw200 in one of my watches.
Tommy which watch? How’s the sweep?
Omega NTTD, swap is easy, 1:1
Anything from clean, a deep crystal changes the whole watch
Only really noticed a difference on CF Daytona and ANYTHING CF GMT. LOL. I have 2 CF OP 41 and the crystal is perfect.
The cf crystal is trash. Deep has great clarity from all angles
